Artist Statement

The rich traditions of far-away cultures inspires me to create work that invokes mystery and exploration. Complex textures, created through layering various mediums, encourage curiosity about what lies beneath.

Most viewers are attracted to particular pieces not only for the colors and composition but for the sculptural qualities as well. When creating I often work on
many pieces at a time, working in layers... sometimes as many as fifteen or twenty before the piece (or journey) is complete.
You cannot view a particular piece without
wondering what lies beneath the obvious...
similar to meeting someone new.
