Michigan
native Jane Robinson began working in fluid acrylic paint
and mixed media in 2002 after a somewhat circuitous process
of self discovery. Jane describes herself as always "creative"
and began creating art while a teenager. Until recently she
only created for leisure giving her work to family and friends.
When a local gallery saw her work, she was asked for a one
woman show and many pieces were sold at the reception. This
encouragement gave her the courage to step out of her comfort
zone and began showing her work publically. Her work became
known locally and since that time she has created a large
body of abstract/contemporary work which is now a part of
many private and corporate collections.
Jane
Robinson is an emerging artist who works in acylic paint and
various materials, creating many layers and textures in her
work. Her work is comtemporary in nature with sculptural qualties
which invoke a sense of cultural diversity and travel. She
often works on many pieces at a time waiting for painting
to "tell" her where it is going. Her work has been
purchased by many private collectors and businesses as well
as the local community college, DePaul University and the
University of Michigan.
Jane
currently divides her professional time between painting and
working as a felony probation agent. This juxtapostion of
work explores the beauty in people as well as the tensions
of urban life. Her paintings subtly depict the complexity
of human experience; the use of balance, depth and movement
evokes the viewer to "look beyond" the obvious.
